What We Do

The purposes of the Foundation's philanthropic and volunteer efforts are:

• Developing, maintaining, expanding, and improving the range and quality of the hospital's medical equipment and services.
• Taking a leadership role in maintaining and improving community connection and confidence in all aspects of the Arbor Health district.

Some of Our Highlights

Since its inception in 1985, the Foundation has accomplished many invaluable goals in East Lewis County. Some of the notable ones are:

• Opening a gift shop—manned completely with volunteer personnel from our community—in the hospital to help raise funds.
• Implementing an EMS snack center for emergency crews coming into the Emergency Department (ED).
• Raising $20,000 toward the cost of an ED ultrasound machine.
• Raising $87,000 toward the cost of a 3D mammography machine.
• Helping new parents learn about local resources through the Family Circle program.
• In 2022, to date, our scholarship committee voted to support $25,276 in scholarship funds, making for a total of $254,360 in scholarships since 2009!

How can you help?

The Foundation gives community members the opportunity to give back to the hospital in a very tangible way. Being a member of the Foundation and helping the hospital connect with the community is a perfect way. Also, giving money to the scholarship fund—through a one-time donation or a trust—directly helps our Foundation accomplish its objectives.

The Gladys Howlett Scholarship Fund

The Gladys Howlett scholarship fund helps with training and continuing education for the Arbor Health staff. While, for some of its staff members, it helps them in keeping pace with the changes of the health care world, for many others, it has had the potential to transform entry-level jobs into careers they never before thought possible. Employees can apply for scholarships specific to the jobs we need here at Arbor Health. We love our staff and want to help them grow!
