Rebecca Chooses Arbor Health Rehab

Rebecca Fredrickson, of Eatonville, knows about post-surgery recovery. She's had back surgery, both knees replaced and now both hips replaced. She selected Morton Hospital's Transitional Care Rehab for her extended rehab following the last two. Hearing about the great rehab services, she inquired about inpatient care for post-surgery patients: Transitional Care Rehab, also known as skilled nursing.

"I did not want to go back to a nursing home. They don't have PT (physical therapy) there—even though they say they do," she says.

Her first hip surgery was Nov. 23, 2021, and the second was Feb. 28, 2022. Having not walked for three months before the first one, Rebecca arranged to stay at Morton Hospital between surgeries.

Nothing but Praise

Working mostly with Chana Albracht and Debra Cole in therapy, she compliments how they modified her exercise program to match her abilities. "Whenever I reached a goal that they had set, they changed the exercise. The treatment wasn't redundant like I had experienced before with other physical therapists."

She also appreciated the nursing staff, naming off several certified nursing assistants and registered nurses and their interactions and encouragement.

By the time she was released to go home, Rebecca had spent Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Year's and her son's 40th birthday in Morton Hospital.

'They Actually Care'

Rebecca continues her twice-weekly physical therapy. She credits the staff for the strides she's made. "They were just as good at inpatient care as they are in outpatient. I got the same great individual care as an inpatient," she says. "The only difference is that I am coming here (as an outpatient) rather than rolling down the hall in a wheelchair. They are dedicated to getting me the best I can be.

"It's the way they work with you that makes the difference," she says. "They actually care about my progress."
