Whole foods have been proven to be the healthiest way to eat, but how do you start making a transition? This demonstration will show how easy—and tasty—whole foods can be.

Entry is $5 per person to cover the cost of food samples. Please register online so we know how many samples to prepare.

Arbor Talks at the Roxy

Wednesday, Sept. 11, 6 p.m., Roxy Theater, 233 W. Main St., Morton

You've heard of TED Talks? We have "Arbor Talks"—five 15-minute talks on topics to help and inspire you.

  • "Moving From an OK Today to a Fit Tomorrow"
Arbor Health physical therapists will share strategies and manageable ways to increase your fitness.
  • "Your Health: Up a Creek With a Paddle," by Mark Hansen, MD. Nutrition, exercise, mental health—there are so many areas of health that affect our lives. Dr. Hansen will discuss "choosing the better or best choices as we age."
  • "UNBREAKABLE: From Between a Rock and a Hard Place," by Tara Chestnut. A former patient shares her inspiring story of working with a "health care dream team" as she strives to regain her active life after being crushed by a boulder.
  • "Beautiful Ways to Boost Your Immune System: Where the Sole Hits The Trail," by Judy Roberts. Explore glorious hikes—right outside of your back door for every season.
  • "Is Your Diet Doing More Harm than Good?" by Sarah (Opdahl) Rae, RDN, CD. Former Morton resident, now a Seattle-based registered dietitian nutritionist and certified diabetes educator, will discuss how dieting is the No. 1 predictor of weight gain. She will review how tuning into your body with an anti-diet approach known as intuitive eating can help you meet your long-term health goals.
