Rob Mach, CEO Taking over as Arbor Health's chief executive officer has been a great experience. I'm still pretty new, having only started in late June. I can already see, though, that my wife, Amy, and I chose a great community to make our own. And, likewise, I have found Arbor Health to be an equally great, small health system.

When you look at an organization such as this, two aspects to consider are its mission statement, which is its identified purpose, and its vision, which is its identified goal. Both of Arbor Health's are admirable:

• Mission—to foster trust and nurture a healthy community.
• Vision—to provide every patient the best care and every employee the best place to work.

With one critical access hospital, four primary care clinics, a specialty clinic and a rapid care clinic, this 250-people-strong organization is working for you. Their aspirations go far beyond just treating your illnesses and injuries when you come through our doors—that is why they are dedicating a whole week to wellness activities, as detailed in this publication, and that's why they are active in local schools, senior centers and more.

The physicians, advanced practitioners, nurses, therapists, technologists, clerks, housekeepers, maintenance workers and more (there's not enough space here to name them all) are hardworking, diligent and patient-focused people. I am proud to be able to have the opportunity to roll up my sleeves and work alongside them.

On a personal level, I want you to know that I strive to be approachable and open to new ideas, suggestions and complaints. I believe in community service, and I want to be involved in this community. Amy and I both look forward to being active in our new East Lewis County home. We love the outdoors and are avid motorcycle enthusiasts, spending most weekends riding our Indian and exploring. I also like to golf and look forward to doing some fishing. When you see me out and about, I hope you will introduce yourself. I look forward to meeting you.
