Wellness is vital to each of us as individuals, but it is also vital to our community. Arbor Health Wellness Week, Aug. 23–27, is designed to bring community members together in a healthy environment and demonstrate the many services and activities available right here at home.
Arbor Talks
This 2022 Wellness Week, we are introducing Arbor Talks. Similar to TED Talks, Arbor Talks will be short, informal presentations specifically focused on wellness, health and safety. Check the local newspapers and visit MyArborHealth.org/WellnessWeek for the most up-to-date schedule.

5:30 p.m.: "Moving to the Glucose Beat—The Effects of Exercise on Blood Sugar," by Travis Podbilski, DO.
6 p.m.: "Better Health by Eating More—Secrets from Centenarians," by Dr. John E. Gobble.
6:30 p.m.: "Swallowing Isn't Always 'Easy as Pie,'" by NiCassia Gabiola, SLP.
7 p.m.: "Don't Worry, It Can't Happen to You…Or Can It?" Adventure Medics share some of their most interesting rescues.
7:30 p.m.: "Amazing Hikes at Your Doorstep," by Judy Roberts, local hiking enthusiast.
Gun Safety Is No Accident

Morton Rifle & Pistol Club

Instructors from the Morton Rifle & Pistol Club will present a one-hour class with demonstrations on the basics of firearm handling and storage safety options.
Joy in the Journey 5K Color Run
Saturday, Aug. 27, 9 a.m.,
Morton Hospital parking lot
Put on your sneakers and line up! Get some exercise and find joy in the journey—this year in color. Arbor Health Foundation volunteers will be located around the route to spray the walkers/runners (who opt in) with color-tinted cornstarch—making for a fun, colorful event. Medals will be awarded to top finishers in multiple age groups.
Color fun level: $8. Includes a participation ribbon and water bottle (children 12 and under are free with adult registration).
Kaleidoscope level: $40. Adds an Arbor Health Color Run T-shirt.
Unicorn level: $65. Adds a unicorn headband and unicorn temporary tattoo.

Wellness Expo

Get information on a whole host of wellness-related services, including home health care for seniors, hands-on instruction for kids on how to escape a burning building and local wellness products.
