New and Noteworthy in 2023

The Board of Commissioners

  • Adopted a new, three-year strategic plan and a new vision statement.
  • Approved the purchase of a new CT scanner.
  • Approved the purchase of an MRI.

Morton Hospital

  • Oxygen bulk tank installed.
  • Electric vehicle charging stations installed.
  • Successfully renewed as a Level II Cardiac Center and Level III Stroke Center System by the Washington State Health Department.
  • Received the Quality Excellence Award from the Washington State Hospital Association for participating in our Critical Access Hospital Achievement of Quality Excellence Program.

Packwood Clinic

  • Opened in April for the full scope of family medicine—pediatrics to geriatrics.

Mossyrock Clinic

  • Quoc Ho, MD, returned to the Arbor Health medical staff.

Recruitment and promotions

  • Welcomed Robert Mach as Chief Executive Officer.
  • Welcomed Barbara Van Duren as Chief Nursing Officer/Chief Quality Officer.
  • Promoted Jamie Brazil to Co-Clinic Manager.
  • Hired Care Coordination Supervisor Tiffany Transue.
  • Promoted Kelly Hauser to Patient Care Services Director.
  • Promoted Janice Cramer to Patient Access Manager.
  • Hired Sara Riley as Environment of Care Supervisor.


Community outreach

  • Organized and sponsored Mossyrock Independence Day 5K and 8K.
  • Held fourth annual drive-thru flu vaccination events simultaneously at four locations.
  • Sponsored the Packwood 5K Fun Run and the Darian Atkinson Memorial 5K.
  • Conducted two evening community wellness events in Packwood.
  • Expanded the lineup of events for the third annual Wellness Week: Community Walks (canceled due to poor air quality), Arbor Talks at the Roxy (with five speakers), plant-based cooking class, community kickball night, 5K color walk/run with munchkin dash, Health Expo and photography contest.

Arbor Health Foundation

  • Awarded $12,524 in employee scholarships.
  • Purchased an ultrasound probe cleaning system for the Diagnostic Imaging Department for $13,400.
  • Committed $20,000 toward the Rapid Care Clinic expansion.
