The purpose of this position is to ensure a safe, secure environment for patients, staff, and visitors in a way that promotes the healing and teaching mission of Arbor Health. Becoming a member of the Security Services team is an outstanding opportunity to help cultivate the relationship between security and the community. The team has a crucial role in maintaining a positive, caregiving and welcoming environment at the Arbor Health campus. Security Officers provide assistance and effective problem resolution for patients, staff, and visitors throughout the multiple departments of Arbor Health, in both patient and non-patient areas. Minimum qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Current CPR training required may be obtain within six months of hire.
  • Crisis Prevention training preferred.
  • Washington security guard card preferred.

Primary job responsibilities:

  • Oversight and inspection of assigned areas of Arbor Health Campus.
  • Serve as a liaison and public relations representative with patients, visitors, and staff for matters related to security and public safety.
  • Respond to calls for assistance and assist medical personnel.
  • Obtainment of information and preparation of written reports.
  • Coordination with medical professionals, police officers, firefighters, and senior management.
  • Incident investigation and dispatch duties.
  • Providing of information and accessible customer service assistance to the public.
  • Maintenance of routine records.
  • Checking and securing of doors for security reasons.
  • Administering of first aid and response to calls for emergency aid.
  • Reportage of maintenance concerns with buildings or grounds.
  • Observe and report any unlawful activity.
  • Perform security patrols on foot.
  • Protect property from theft, embezzlement, sabotage, trespassing, fire and accidents.
  • Conduct patient escorts, patient watches, provide safety escort.
  • Enforce all regulations, policies and procedures.
  • Investigate and take the appropriate lawful action as authorized by the Chief Facilities Management Officer on accidents, incidents, trespassing, suspicious activities, safety and fire.
  • The control of access to premises being protected.
  • Crowd control in public areas.
  • Performing other related duties of a comparable level/type as assigned. Posts and assignments may vary.
