Arbor Health Employee Activity Committee (EAC) Launches Shoe-Drive Fundraiser!

Community news | Wednesday, September 11, 2019

Arbor Health's Employee Activity Committee (EAC) is partnering with Funds2orgs and is “Kicking” off a shoe-drive fundraiser beginning August 5 and will continue through November 4. This shoe drive will raise funds to support the needs of our local community. The EAC has created programs like “Coats for Kids” and “Adopt a Family” to provide local families gifts and food during the holidays. The EAC also plans on donating school supplies to local school districts in the fall, continue collecting food for the local food banks as well as support employee sponsored events at Arbor Health.

This year they have decided to focus their efforts on a Mega Shoe Drive partnering with Funds2orgs and have declared a goal of collecting 1000 bags (25 pairs each bag) of shoes during the three-month time frame.

Arbor Health will earn funds from the shoe drive based on the total weight of the pairs of gently-worn, used and new shoes collected, then Funds2Orgs will issue a check for the collected shoes. Those dollars will benefit the EAC fund to use for supporting their community projects. Anyone can help by donating gently worn, used and new shoes at:

  • Arbor Health, Morton Hospital, 521 Adams Ave., Morton
  • Arbor Health, Mossyrock Clinic, 745 Williams St., Mossyrock
  • Arbor Health, Randle Clinic, 108 Kindle Rd., Randle

All donated shoes will then be redistributed throughout the Funds2Orgs network of micro-enterprise (small business) partners. Funds2Orgs works with micro-entrepreneurs in helping them create, maintain and grow small businesses in developing countries where economic opportunity and jobs are limited. Proceeds from the sales of the shoes collected in shoe drive fundraisers are used to feed, clothe and house their families. One budding entrepreneur in Haiti even earned enough to send to her son to law school.

"We are excited about our shoe drive," said Kim Olive, Human Resources Assistant. "We know that most people have extra shoes in their closets they would like to donate to us. By doing so, we raise money for the EAC, and in turn have the chance to help families in developing nations who need economic opportunities. “Community Support will be vital in helping us reach our goal – plus it’s a win-win for everyone.” “Take a STEP in the right direction and help us STOMP out poverty – Please DONATE YOUR SHOES!”

We want to express our sincere appreciation to the following businesses for their generosity in support of our Shoe Drive. Each business has committed to donate shoes to our cause that will help our Employee Activity Committee fund community projects as well as help individuals in developing nations create micro-enterprises. We are now one step closer to our goal, thank you from all of us at Arbor Health!
