Purchasing Clerk - (Full Time)


Materials Management


Maintain a clean and orderly work area. Store and stock supplies in the appropriate areas to the appropriate par levels. Keep SDS for all departments up to date.

Minimum qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Valid Washington State Drivers License required.
  • Previous materials management/purchasing experience preferred. Experience in healthcare materials management/purchasing preferred.

Primary job responsibilities:

  • Receives Deliveries:

  • Signs for all orders received daily.

  • Opens all packages and checks contents against the packing slip.

  • Sort all deliveries based on where items are needed.

  • Delivers special orders to departments.

  • Place stock items in proper place on shelf.

  • Assures all Non-Storeroom areas Stocked to Established PAR level.

  • Daily physically counts each stock shelf item and resupplies based on Inventory PAR level requirements.

  • Assures that chargeable supplies have proper charge stickers attached.

  • Issues stock items delivered to departments in the Cerner inventory system on a daily basis.

  • Monthly checks Acute Care, Swing, and ER store rooms for outdated items.

  • Checks Acute Care, Swing, ER, and store room for outdated items.

  • Records outdated items in Cerner system and disposes of outdated items according to standard procedure.

  • Responds to department ad-hoc requests for supply items

  • Provides ER with overflow supplies cart on holidays and other requested times.

  • Re-stocks crash carts after each use.

  • SDS (Safety Data Sheets) Review and Upkeep

  • Maintain Master SDS list.

  • Add news SDS data sheets as needed from new vendor purchases.

  • Update alphabetized SDS listing in binder to reflect any changes.

  • Annually sends out departmental SDS list for managers review.

  • Based on annual SDS list review, updates master list in Lucidoc and hard-copy binder in Purchasing department.

  • Capitol Equipment and Small Attractive Assets

  • Maintaining property item list and files.

  • Notifies Facilities department when new patient care equipment is purchased.

  • Provides facilities department with property sticker for new purchased equipment.

  • Receives from facilites department stickered property item file.

  • Updates stickered property item list.

  • Receives surplus item forms from departments and provides Executive Secretary with surplus items list for Board approval.

  • Removes surplused items from stickered property list after Board approval. Works with Controller annually to audit fixed asset capital items list to stickered property list.

  • Provide Back-Up for:

    • Courier

    • Purchase Ordering Clerk

  • Coordinates all outgoing packaging responsibilities, Fedex, UPS, etc

  • Other duties as assigned.
