Patient Representative (Medical Biller) - full-time

Description:

The Patient Representative is responsible for accurate and timely insurance billing. This position will edit and release claims daily from Epremis.

Ability to read and accurately interpret Explanation of Benefits provided by various payers. Must be able to communicate clearly with Insurance and obtain meaningful resolution.

Responsible for accurate account balances. Balances should correspond to the information given on the EOB. Must be able to explain account balance to the general public with compassion and precision.

Responsible for reviewing and working aged trial balance. A minimum of 25 accounts will be worked daily from the Aged Receivables.

Minimum qualifications:

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent.
  • One year computer training and/or experience. Prior medical/clinic insurance billing experience preferred.
  • Strong attention to detail and demonstrated ability to use sound judgment in decision making.
  • Excellent organizational skills with demonstrated time management skills. Ability to multi-task and prioritize.
  • Ability to handle a high workload volume.
  • Ability to communicate effectively both written and verbal.
  • Ability to be flexible and demonstrated ability to be adaptable.
  • Knowledge of insurance coverage, billing and medical terminology preferred.
  • Can operate computer, copy machine, switchboard, phone and fax efficiently.

Primary job responsibilities:

Patient Representative (Medical Biller)

  • Responsible for initial billing for one or more of the following: Commercial Regence, Government/Workers’ Comp, Medicare, Medicaid, Premera.
  • Responsible to know and follow billing instructions by payer/service specific.
  • Responsible for follow-up collection procedures to include phone calls, letters, account adjustments, and documentation.
  • Verify overpayments and process refunds.
  • Investigate and resolve claim denials.
  • Submit accurate account adjustments.
  • Responsible to work a minimum of 25 accounts each day.
  • Edit, validate claims in Epremis to be released daily.
  • Maintain AR days less than 12% in the 120> aging category.
  • Communicate professionally and clearly with patients.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Possibility of remote position if located in Washington State.

Salary Range:

This is a union position on the union wage scale (24 steps) and the selected candidate will be placed on the wage scale at the years of experience per the contract. Step 1: $18.04/hr, Step 12: $22.42/hr, Step 24: $28.44
